    I use my iPod mostly for podcasts and audiobooks. Music is secondary. Linked with iTunes, the iPod is a no-contest winner for me.

    the sony nwa300 wasnt sony compatible

    so im going to guess that one isnt

    if its anything like my old mp3 - you will get a challenge!

    With the NWZ-A818 Sony has dropped all the proprietary Soundstage nonsense and let you use MP3 and AAC files. The question is would I be able to drag and drop such files to it from a mac.

    Yes, I'll second that! I'd definitely go with a Sony if its compatible, they are extremely solid and the audio converters tend to be second to none.

    Sound quality is supposed to be fantastic. Also the thing has 30 hours of battery life which is very nice indeed.

    Since it's drag-and-drop I'll say there shouldn't be any complications.
