Hi All - I'm interested in doing some proofreading work on a part-time basis. Can anyone recommend courses I could do? Also, are there agencies you join who send you out work? I am interested in anything, even small items for marketing campaigns etc. I understand this forum may be for serious writers, so hope I'm not insulting anyone asking this..

You can take courses from http://www.train4publishing.co.uk/distance/basproof

I am not sure if qualification recognised here, to my knowledge there is no real standard for Ireland. More info from Cle at http://www.publishingireland.com/about.shtml

Be aware proofreading is hard to get into and does not pay very well, so I am told. Hope that does not put you off. Good luck
