wats the starting chips and blind time for the lower level buy ins??might be there around this time....

The structure is kinda sucky for the low buy-in events...In the $1500 you get 3k chips starting at 25/50 and 1 hr clock afaik

Do you pay a registartion fee into these events? 10%??

The main event starts on the 3rd and finishs on the 16th, its getting longer each year. I just cant see people getting the time of work to play this. I doubt I'll go this year.

I always thought that the chips were correspondant to the buyin. Ie. a $1500 buy in gave you 1500 chips, I could be wrong though.

It is getting longer and longer each year, but I dont think that will stop too many people from going tbh. It is the world series after all.

Last year you got 2 chips for every 1$ in the buy-in. The main event structure started on level 2 but the rest of the NL games started on level one. Not sure about limit and other variants but chips were definitely 2 chips for every dollar.

Aye, there'd be nothing worse than getting sacked from work because you were playing the FT of the main event when you were supposed to be back at your desk.

EDIT. On a serious note, I don't see why July7th needs to be a day off as the Day1D survivors will get a day off anyway.

It was 2 chips per $ for the first time last year. Any guesses on the ME field this year?....I'll go for about 6000 even

It is included in the entry fee, something like 7% I think.

Which of the NL events are bracelet events? Surely the lot arent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

    All 55 events are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Yep, there were 55 bracelets this year, and it looks like a similar number of events.

So the 1500$ buy in gives 3k in chips, not great eh?the only thing is has going for it is the bracelet i think id rather play at home in weekend festivals where theres a better structure than a 3k tourney....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

I dont think anyone would argue that structures aren't great for the $1500 events...but it's WSOP! It's also likely to be the best I can afford unless I run (read: play) goooter than I am at present. In fact if I continue the way I'm going, I'll be sticking to $20 freezeouts when I'm there!

Last year the Venetian ran a deepstack festivel at the same time with a lot of 300 and 500 type buy-ins. This had a much better structure than the WSOP events and was very very popular. Binion's also ran tournaments at 10% of the WSOP buy-ins. These were also quite popular and considering the buy-in the structure wasn't overly important but was still ok.

I reckon it'd cost about 230k to play every tournament, even more if you want to play the ladies tournament (for some people of course....)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭shoutman

Jeff you should know for now I don't play tourneys for the money, tis all about teh WIN!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,860 ✭✭✭ditpoker

just like that stars tourny in your blog eh?

and i've about as much chance of having 230k as i have of having 6million in july, so its all the same to me!

55 events. What with WSOP tour events, WSOPE etc. Harrahs are sucking this thing dry and taking it's soul with it. They badly need to cut it down to 30 or so.

Playing just to cash makes as much sense as fantasising over a mediocre looking woman.

So who's going over? I'll hopefully be in vegas at some time next summmer, may as well make it durin the WSOP. Anyone gonna play any of the shortstack side events? I'm going back to the jackpot 20 to get some practice in.

I went with Valor to play the $500 game landed there 1/2 hour early and I was alternate 120 odd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭shoutman

I'm definately heading over to vegas for some of this. Going to put a good bit of effort into qualifying for the main event, that said if you can take the cash I might just do that, play one of the side events play a sat or two for the main event over there and have my summer paid for.
