    Hi guys

Hoping you can help me here. I am moving into an apartment in a couple of weeks. There are no issues with putting up a dish except that I cannot drill into the walls !! (probably a good thing knowing me!!)

I am wondering does anyone have a recommendation for a dish that would be smaller than a normal minidish that would pick up all sky channels but be a bit less consipcuous.

It would be either free-standing (in the case of a ground floor apartment) and so something with a stand would be ideal or a dish that could clamp to a balcony railing.

It is for Sky HD so im not sure if a bigger dish size is needed for that.

Im in Naas so if there was somewhere in Dublin that would be ideal.. cheers

Any help really appreciated on this one !

Ok, I've never bought one, but from time to time Aldi / Lidl have "campers" setups on offer, usually for about €80. These include an FTA receiver plus a small dish (I don't know the exact size). I believe that these dishes are good enough for 28.2 (Sky) - if set up correctly and you're not in the far West (for example).

As I said, I've never bought or used one, so hopefully someone with more experience will come on and give you more specific advice / correct me. I have seen a couple of these dishes clamped to peoples' apartment balconies though, and they look quite neat. I'm sure they're easy to put up and equally easy to remove. Just a pity that, at the minute, Aldi / Lidl don't appear to be doing them!

I'm sure they'll be back before long. You can register your email address at www.aldi.ie and www.lidl.ie, and you'll be spammed with all their offers. Might be a bit irritating, but at least you'll know if/when the sat offers are next in.

Not sure if it's a portable dish or not - but B&Q in Naas had a satellite kits for sale ealier in the week - it was arond the 100 mark, might be worth a look.

I would not use anything less than a 60cm dish for this as you may get picture breakup when it rains. A pole and two clamps is probably your best bet as the stands can be quite expensive as there are only one or two manufacturers in Ireland. You also need a twin output lnb to use sky+ recording features.

A quad is better value and as tony says forget portable dishes. Ok for continent and south of England. Not here.

Sky HD uses same dish as regular sky 60cm x 65. Though in very wet extreme West an 80cm does not go to waste :)

    Hi guys

Thanks a million for the advice.. I think the pole is the way to go !

Tell me this... willmy existing dish attach to a pole or is there a special connection needed ? I can point the dish myself as I have done it before.. just looking to save the 50 quid the guy would charge me !
