House sealed - damp patches on inner leaf of cavity

House has been sealed in the past week with windows in and roof finished. Noticed yesterday after recent rain that while most of the walls are dry, there are some isolated wet patches on the west-facing walls. Also some damp in corner where wall meets floor. Spoke to the engineer and without seeing it he seemed to think that its not unusual and some waterproofer and lime in the render should prevent moisture coming through. The engineer is coming to take a look - do I have a problem to worry about?

It could be one of several things but more than likely its the unrendered walls taking a beating from the weather. Wall ties are notorious for transferring damp but this should ease when you plaster the walls.

Have you checked that the wall ties were free from mortar droppings?

    Thanks Muffler
Too late for me to check the wall ties now as windows are in etc.
My engineer was thinking along the same lines as you re the wall finish but I'm still concerned given that I planned to pump the cavity with insulation bead.
