You're going to get completely ripped off if you buy a 23inch lcd,Their simply not in demand and only a few manafacturers make them, samsung being one.To get good value on a cheap lcd, you need to get a 32" minimum.Take one of these for example

I'd agree I've been looking around for a nice 23" LCD for a while, and anything I think of as a good spec is above the €500 mark, but my problem is that it's for the bedroom and a 26/32" or above would be too big, so I might actually go smaller and get a nice quality 22" monitor and move a PC into the room.....

I think the demand for 26" TV's is the same as 23" TV's if not worse, but there do seem to be some decent prices around, if it's for a main room you are as well of going for a 32" and there should be decent info in some of the other threads here....

Have been looking at the 22" monitors to use for both PC and TV. Best deal I've found so far is the Samsung 225MW for €397 from Argos. There are a good few postings over on avforums about this monitor. Main complaint seems to be backlight bleed, just like the LG equivalents. The TV side of things seems to be OK - you can set the source to 16:9 unlike the LG's which stretches the picture to 16:10.

where are you going to put this TV- by that i mean will you be on cable if not i would advise u to buy a TV that suit your needs and has digital free view.. RTE are now broadcasting in digital and it prob wont be long till analogue is phased out --- so think ahead.
i think that all LG & JVC TV's have it and samsung have it on some models. The picture is 1st class but you'll only get 4 ch's at the mo. You'll still be able to tune any old analouge as well as the new digital ones..

Ivan, the 225MW has RGB scart + HDMI as well as an analogue tuner. If you want to try picking up digital broadcasts, the 225MD has a digital receiver built in but it is €100 more expensive. Haven't read any feedback on the 225MD so can't say if its the same panel as the 225MW, but €500 is an awful lot of money to spend on a 22" screen.

NIBBS, if you do get the 225MW, I'd be interested in hearing what you think of it.

RTE only broadcast a "trial" DVB-T signal, even though it launched in the UK 5 years ago and is mature going on obsolete. If they were serious about deploying it, they would have done so by now. At the rate they move it's more likely that they will skip it and go straight to DVB-T2.
