it wont let me configure it. once using the cd i got into the configuration it says in the manual that 192.168.1.1 will let you configure it this doesnt work and when i try the setup with the cd it says it cant find the router on the network even though i am directly connected to it using a ethernet port to my laptop

Which port do you have the ethernet cable connected to on the router? could just be that you have it plugged into the internet port...
Have you tried another cable as well?

Is the IP you're trying to access if from on the same subnet as it, 192.168.1.x in this case?

check the ip address on the laptop to see what address the router is giving you . you can get this address by clicking the network symbol in the task tray and going to the support tab.

Have you tried (very temporarily!) disabling/turning off any firewalls you might be running?

When you type in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of your web browser, what error message do you get?

Just read your thread, I had a similar problem
with a Linksys signal booster. Basically after
trying everything I went online and found a
rake of people complaining of the same problem
    in forums.

Basically what I got from it was that Linksys and
Belkin seem to be compatible with their own make
    of router.

I haven't found a way around this yet but if I do,
    I'll post it.
