Found out last night that my clubs (Ballyboden St Enda's) membership is set to increase (yet again) by €40 to €190 for 2008

Is this ridiculously high compared to other clubs?

Included in the €190 is €50 compulsary player insurance scheme, €20 referee fees?? and €20 for the use of some new facilities (all weather pitch & small gym)

Out of interest, what sort of membership fee's are other clubs charging?

€30.00 here and as I'm not playing anymore, it helps when it comes to getting tickets.

I pay €90 altogether including €20 insurance (student rate). The club also have a compulsory lotto scheme costing €156 per household per year, which has caused quite a bit of controversy.

    €110 a year for me

I'd imagine a lot depends on (a) facilities that have to be upkept and (b) the % of members who actually pay fees

E30 membership and E20 for the insurance. Very cheap considering the club forks out to rent a field every year for training on. E190 seems very steep

Im expecting mine to go up to around €120 this year; No pitches of our own >> Rented from DCC. Bar to upkeep and it does include insurance which has risen according to Croke Park by 50% if I recall the AGM correctly so that will be the major bulk of the fee tbh

€30 last year. I don't know if the players pay extra. There is a good fund raising committee though who are well able to ensure the Lotto only gets won when they want it to get won.

Youre always welcome across the road in St Judes. Only something like €100 for family membership (full) which is 2 adults 2 kids. Cross over to the dark side :)

Where is your all weather pitch btw?

    NEVER!! :D

All-weather pitch and gym are up in sancta maria school grounds. I havent been to the gym yet but id imagine its pretty small & basic.

Its unreal that some clubs are only around the €50 mark, great value imo.

€145 for social membership to crokes is ridiculous, are the pints €2 or something??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,005 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

It could be a misprint, but it's in the price list I was recently sent. The pints are cheaper than in a pub, but not €2. I rarely go in there to be honest, as usually I am meeting friends elsewhere.

Less than €4 a week its nothing if you ask me.

Costs alot to run a club be it gaelic, football, rugby etc

    Cost of floodlights,reseeding pitches,groundstaff,bar staff,player insurance,kit,medical gear etc

Ours in Mayo is €50 I think for playing, €20 for social. Social just tends to be supporters of the clubs, ex-players and people looking for tickets when the championship rolls around.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7 obj52

, ex-players and people looking for tickets when the championship rolls around.

Small Hurling Club in a football county no pitches (Local college helping us out with use of the pitches) no club house, players running the juvenile teams and fifty euro for the years membership which covers insurance

Social membership not a chance, ex players are only seen or heard from when the All-Ireland tickets are available, Something to bring up at the AGM I suppose

20 euro student membership, decent enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,558 ✭✭✭sgthighway

    €50 for Adult players
    €20 for Under 18s and Non-players
Honorary Members are exempt from paying Membership Fees

Coyle Hamilton have seriously increased the costs on Player Insurance. I think by 40%.

20 squid for senior / junior players.
    Fiver for the students :D

Well then your regristrations officer mustn't being doing much. For insurance purposes you must pay something. And AFAIK, to play in all GAA competitions you must be registered.
