I have to clear some points up as this all seems to be getting out of control. I am the guy who originally posted the thread looking to set up an ss panzergrenadier group (I know I'm banned o1s1n, I'm only here to post this, then I'm gone).
I had no intentions of causing such a fuss between the members of this forum or the airsoft community in general. All I wanted to do was to see if there were any people near my location who wanted to set up a team to have a bit of craic at airsoft events. My main interest in in WW2 German army, after years of reading books on all aspects of every war ever fought, this is the area I found myself comming back to again and again. That is why I choose a german based team, the reason I picked an ss unit is becuase I like their oak leaf camo smocks, that and that alone is my reason. I also like the Wehrmacht camo, panzer uniforms, luftwaffe, the lot basically.
I did alot of research into ww2 airsoft teams before making my post, from this I found loads of ss airsoft teams worldwide, therefore I thought it must be ok to do this in Ireland aswell, this combined with my liking for oak leaf camo led to me posting a thread about wanting to start an ss unit.
My original thread recieved a few replies from people wishing me well with the group and offering advice on sources for weapons, kit etc, there were also some posts warning me to tread carefully as my choice of uniy might offend some. I responded to all these in a mature friendly manner. This post was then closed down which I was annoyed about, I then posted another thread complaining about this, which was promptly shut down and yes, then I posted a childish thread about nice german soilders saving puppies, for which I ultimately got banned. I was mad at the time, probably shouldent have done it. I then had several pm's with the moderator who banned me, which seems to have led to the recent poll in this forum.
I respect everyones views on this poll but I feel I am being made to look like a bit of a nazi nutcase who wants to march around a field emblazoned with swastikas and deaths heads. This was never my intention, I just like the camo, take the lightnings off the collar and you have a normal wehrmacht uniform. I love the weapons, they are not unique to the ss, the whole army used the same guns. In my post I said there would be no offensive behaviour and no swastikas. I already feel like I have enemies in the airsoft community even though I only found out it existed 1 week ago, this was not my intention. I was excited when I discovered the airsoft websites. I tried to buy my first airsoft gun from england about 15 years ago and have tried several times since, always getting the reply that airguns could not be shipped to ireland. I eventually stopped trying and contented myself with staring at the pictures in my magazines. When I discovered last week that airsoft was legal in Ireland now I was like a kid at christmas, I immediatly scrapped my christmas present wish list, my wife is buying me an MP40 for christmas now.
I do not wish to enter the airsoft community as the bad guy or the nazi so I am withdrawing my plans to start up an SS airsoft team, I know there are a lot of people out there who agree with me that history should be allowed to be accurately portrayed but I realise that there are as many and more that do not agree with me. I enjoyed the poll but I feel I have had enough now, the wind has been well and truly knocked out of my sails.
Maybe some day we will meet on the batlefield, until then......

I understand your need to clarify your position, however if you wanted to post again on this forum, you should have pm'd o1s1n or myself to request so, not set up another account to get around a ban
