    Anyways discuss away.

Yah something I nominated gets picked. I nominated it because this was the album that broke them really. I consider Boces their finest album but Deserters Songs was the only album likely to get picked and it is probably their most beautiful. Anyway Mercury Rev deserve to be in the Album of the Week list for their body of work overall.

Absolutely loved 'Goddess on a Hiway' when it came out but for some reason never listened to the album. I'm about to change that.

A band at their peak, the first song holes is some opener. Opus 40, delta sun and Goddess on a hiway. I dont know how the flaming lips made it so much bigger than these as their a much bettter band, no need for pantomine rock with the rev:)

I love this album. a true classic. Unfortunately after seeing them live a few years ago I've kinda turned off them a bit (they really let me down that night... but maybe it was all in me head)

Liked some of the songs off this and finally relented and picked it up over christmas. Haven't given it my full attention yet but so far so good. Very easy to listen to (I hate the term easy listening!!)

I never liked it as much as I wanted to. There are great moments throughout, no doubt, 'Holes' being amazing. But parts of the album just didn't do it for me. I can see how it had many admirers though.

I must say I probably only listend to this album 3 or 4 times, and its been a long time since then, but the impression that lingers with me is one of mundanery (with the exception of the well known single).

I bought this album when I was 14. It's still absolutely brilliant (obviously). Some beautiful songs on it. Tonight It Shows is one of my favourites.

This is definitely one of their best imo, 'the funny bird' is cool, especially with the really loud guitar bit in it....and then the real happy finish off with 'delta sun bottleneck stomp' is just pure class! the only problem i have with the album is the way it starts with 'holes'; not because it's a bad song, but because it depresses the hell outta me....
