This TV is meant to be really excellent, one of the best 37" LCDs on the market.

    sony don't make a 37" LCD.

i would also recommend that panasonic one ongarite mentioned. it has the best depth of colour and movement i have ever seen on an lcd. viewing angle on it as well is huge, even at nearly 180 degrees its still impressive

Sony make the KDL37M3000, which is a 37" LCD.

Dunnes Stores have an offer on a Sony Bravia 37" LCD, but they do not advertise the exact model or specification anywhere, so I don't know what it is yet. It was €999, which seemed to be pretty good value if the spec was right. Dunnes have recently cut their price further, to €899.

Does anyone know the model and spec of the Sony 37" LCD being sold by Dunnes? www.dunnesstores.ie/page.php?pid=29

That "p" model aint too bad.It isnt their most basic one either, the most basic is "u".The "p" is the same as the "u" except it has that essential bravia engine

Pity it doesn't have an analogue tuner.

Google "100hz flicker free" for information on that technology , and you will see it applies to CRT's only .......Sony are mis-advertising this , it has nothing to do with LCD's. What Sony have is " Smart motion " , which is interpolation , and that is always bad , you want a set that can handle motion properly without this crud.

LCD refresh rates have nothing to do with 100hz and all that , which is specifically tied to electron gun movement on CRT's. LCD's and Plasma rates are measured by how fast the pixels can change and are listed in milliseconds not hz , you want a set with a low millisecond refresh rate , anything below 20ms will do for a TV.

Sony are nowhere near the best flat panel maker out there and their sets are only good from the V series on. Go with Panasonic , they are way way better.
And dont fall for that 100hz rubbish.

I posted more on this here ,

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055198018&page=2

I have seen these so called 100hz TV's beside non " 100hz " TV's and they are not great at all , they have noticeable halos around moving people on screen and sometimes the tech kicks in when it shouldnt and causes smearing , this is a dishonest tactic on Sonys part and are trying to cover up the fact that their flat panels have a high millisecond refresh rate , get a panel that has a good refresh rate and stay away from this joke of a feature.

Sony have a good history and some great products , ( I have Sony amps , PS3 , etc ,) but they were late bringing out Flat panels and they are not the best , its a shame to see them stooping this low.
