damaged ethernet jack

    i gave the sister a lend of the laptop and when she was taking out the ethernet cable it was "stuck" so she pulled it out nontheless breaking off the 2 small pieces of plastic that hold it in(like the bits that hold the tab untill you press it down,sorta)

    is there anything i can do for(besides buying a pc card) it as hitting off the cable even a small bit will knock the cable out

    i have a bit of selotape over one side of one of my broken ethernet jacks, just to make it a bit fatter, so it doesn't come out too easily. But likes been said buying a new cable the way to fix it properly

    I think he's talking about the network connection on the laptop and not the cable (at least as I read it)
    If thats the case you do probably have to get a PCMCIA network adapter as theres no real way of repalcing the jack on the board of the laptop without a lot of labour and heart ache.

    oop, i think your right. usb to ethernet are available too
