Feedback on what exactley? You only wrote "dvr".

Feedback on whether people are happy with it, or if there are any teething problems etc.

    What DVR?
    Make / Model?

Are you serious by just saying "DVR" that we will automatically know what you are asking for or talking about?

Actually, from your second post, I assume you mean the NTL / Chorus / UPC DVR? If so, I have never used it but heard good things about it but no series link at the moment. EPG is MUCH better than the older STB's. But having said that, there are MANY posts about it. IIf you had typed "dvr" into the search box rather than here, you would have gotten quicker results.

IrishTLR I presumed NTL/ CHORUS were the only cable company installing DVR boxes, my apologies if I was wrong. Sky have their own Skyplus, if I had been talking about that I would've gone into Satellite. I was not aware of other DVR boxes. Yes, seriously!

There are threads about it already if you need an opinion immediately.

Mr.S, did they come to install it for you? I have it ordered for tomorrow morning, fingers crossed. Hope they show up!

I'm having my DVR installed tomorrow and I got a call earlier to confirm my DVR installation...I'll let ye know how it goes!
I have one quick question though, If I have a program set to record, can I start watching the recorded program even if it hasnt finished recording? As in, if a film was set to record from 9 til 11 could i start watching at 10? I know i could just pause the live broadcast at 9 but Im not always at home when it starts...

Just had mine installed and it seems well worth it, fingers crossed. Yes you can watch the programme while recording it. When browsing, city channel doesn't come up in the little box anymore. It's replaced by the channel you're watching. Will probably take a while to get used to as no manual is supplied. I think I came across a link to a web manual here before though. Must try dig it out.:D

I got my dvr installed yesterday...great product...dont know how i ever lived without it!
Only one problem though, I ordered the Disney Channel Package today but they are having major problems getting it to come through....Apparently having both and old box and a dvr makes it tricky....I ordered it at 14.30 and they said they now hope for it to be available by 20.00!
Did anyone else have these subscription problems with their dvr?

They took my old box away and I have no problem receiving the subscribtion packages.
Only problem I'm having now is every day when I turn on the DVR there's no sound. Turned off, back on, still nothing. Turned off again, switched the scart lead from scart socket it was in to the other one and that worked. Handy that it has two scart sockets but I'm having to do this everyday. Will phone them but God knows how long it'll take for them to replace it and I'll lose all my recorded programmes!

Try a new scart lead first it may sort your problem out.

Finally got around to ordering one of these. The engineer is coming out tomorrow morning (hopefully).

Still think E50 installation is a bit steep though considering all of the money I've paid out to NTL/UPC over the years :( All he has to do is swap the bloody box and get the new one turned on, it's not like he has to lay cabling or anything.

Well their is the cost of actually getting someone out to put the box in to the company.
But that aside I think the 50 euro install charge is being removed soon and the monthly retail charge is being reduced very soon too.

Is that for a promotion or permanent?

Think permanent Paul. It hasn't happen yet but it will soon.

So how is there a difference between putting a box in for an existing customer and a new customer? Someone still has to go out for a new customer too and probably do some extra cabling work, yet there's no cost associated there?

The difference being like most business they always had a better offer for new customers. I don't agree with this as existing customer have shown their loyalty and should be offered the same if not better. But thats the way business seem to work Stem

You can get it now, same one as for cabled (but might be different firmware).
