Converting VHS to DVD

    Guys

i have a bucket load of old VHS tapes, family occasions etc that i'd love to convert to DVD. The missus was thinking of getting me a DVD recorder with hard drive for Xmas. On the unit she was looking at it has 2 SCART sockets, one is blue and has Decoder/AV2 written on it, the other just AV1.

I'm wondering would it be possible to connect the VCR to the Decoder SCART and record the output from the VCR to DVD(or HDD)? alternatively if i got one of the VCR/DVDR combo units could i do the same?

obviously once all the cassettes are converted there's be no real need to the VCR so option 1 would be the most appealing to me.

    yes.

no need for one with a built in VHS deck if it's going to be useless to you when they're all transferred.

In the exact same situation so i'd love to know how to do that.

So just put the output scart from the video into the input scart in the DVD-Recorder/HDD?
