cool, just the UK plug adaptor right? do you have a Polish one yourself, and if so all the UK games will play ok on it too?

    i have a swedish one

    only differnece is the plug

The Wii is set to the region code of PAL - PAL basically covers the whole of Europe, all european games will on this console.

But games from the USA will not because they use the NTSC region code

Just like a DVD player where you have regions 1 for us and region 2 for europe

    hope this helps

great thank you very much for your help :) the only reason I ask about the region thing is because I know its different in France and want to make sure that Poland is not also an exception? If anyone has a Polish Wii living in Ireland maybe they could put my mind at ease 100%.

Are you sure its different in france.

I am almost 110% certian that any wii bought in europe will work in this country with the help of a uk adapter

I know they use SECAM in France as their broadcasting standard instead of PAL so it shouldn't be compatible over here.

Yeah but they also use PAL in France too, alongside SECAM.

One of the lads, bought 3 Wii's in france last week for family

and they are working fine over here, so i think thats a bit of misinformation.

Bulgaria and Romania also use SECAM as the TV standard but as the difference between and PAL/SECAM can be easily modified (refresh rate or frequency, I can't remember which one) by a computer but not by a TV it should be no problem.
I don't know what standard Poland uses.

thanks very much mate for putting my mind at ease. Wasn't sure about the France thing, it makes sense that they do work because some French websites are selling to Ireland. Cheers again for the info :):)

Sorry to bump in here but I'm eager to get an answer to this from someone who may have purchased one out there, but would a Nintendo DS bought in Hong Kong work here? i.e. Would the language have to be changed etc. etc.
    Thanks in advance.;)
