What part of clicking your fingers makes the clicking sound?

Anyone else find that your click is stronger and louder on your right hand and not your left?

I could never click my fingers right so came up with an alternative which freaks people out when I do it I use my thumb and wrap my index finger around it and force my thump out of it makes the same click as the standard way

Actually, I think neither... the sound is caused by the resulting pressure waves on the air around the finger and thumb...:p

Not quite..
Im right handed, yet my left hand makes a louder, stronger click.
In fact I find it weird clicking with my right hand, something not right/natural about it when I do it.
