Is it when your middle fingers leaves the top of your thumb?Or is it when the middle finger makes contact with your palm at the base of your thumb?

Do it fast enough (like me) and the sound is your middle finger breaking the sound barrier.

I believe the sound is when your middle finger hits the palm but I can't do it.. none of my family can.. we're freaks of nature :(

Anyone else find that your click is stronger and louder on your right hand and not your left?

I could never click my fingers right so came up with an alternative which freaks people out when I do it I use my thumb and wrap my index finger around it and force my thump out of it makes the same click as the standard way :)

Throughout Ireland people are at their desks clicking their fingers with their ear to their hands looking like complete plonkers. Nice one OP :D

    LOL. So true.

And my left hand makes the louder noise, maybe because i'm left handed?

Actually, I think neither... the sound is caused by the resulting pressure waves on the air around the finger and thumb...:p

Theres a small imp that lives in the palm of your hand and its sole purpose in life is to clap its hand really loudly anytime someone attempts to click their fingers.

    Not quite..
Im right handed, yet my left hand makes a louder, stronger click.
In fact I find it weird clicking with my right hand, something not right/natural about it when I do it.
