Clay pigeon traps

Hi all.
Im new and sorry if this question has been asked am million times before but I am looking to source a clay pigeon trap for my husband as a christmas present. He is a pretty good shot for normal game (though I have banned him from shooting foxes and phesants on my dads farm:o as I much prefer to see them wandering through the garden - not intending to cause offence to shooters out there :cool:) He has done a bit of Clay on friends' traps and enjoys it.
anyhow just wondring if anyone can recommend a good brand/ trap type and supplier pref. in the South or South East area. Was hoping to spend around the €500 range. Also (sorry to sound dumb) I assume a pellet gun is okay to start clay shooting on

Duffy's (http://www.shoot.ie/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2_32) do them. They are in Galway but I think you could have one sent to you.
As for the pellet gun I think he would have to be a really good shot to hit a clay with an air gun (it is an air gun right? Or am I making a mistake?) A shotgun would be ideal for clays

I just found out Tallaght Rod & Gun (http://tallaghtrodandgun.com/claypigeon.html) do them but I doubt they have them in stock.

:oAh right. Luckily he has a shotgun too then:o I clearly know nothing about the sport. I have shot the pellet gun myself at target boards (and did alright - well I hit the board anyway:rolleyes:) but shooting a shotgun is way too scary - triend my dads once and had a sore shoulder after it!:o

I will check out those sites.

I had a quick look on eBay (not sure about buying "big stuff" from them but some of the online stores look pretty reputable) Do either of these types make any sence to you or are they more suited for a profesional/ compeditive shooter?

Sorry I wouldn't know what traps are good I have only just got into shooting but someone who knows there stuff should reply in the next day or two.:D

I followed 2347's advice after searching the forum for such a question, got a Do-all 3/4 trap with a little seat built on, set it up in the house tnite and it fires off (without any clay in there) just fine, now all i have to do is get the clays. Question to the thread starter, did you get one in the end?
