Problems with cardreader - drivers don't load

Hi, I recenlty bought a Packard Bell ixtreme X2712 that has integrated cardreaders. Unfortunately they won't work. I have that model where on the top of the computer you click and a part pops up that has card-readers and a USB port. It also has the jacks for the headphones (they work fine). I tried two different camera cards and nothing happens (usually you should get something indicating that you've inserted a removable something, but absolutely nothing happens and it doesn't appear as external drive or anything either in explorer) - I also plugged in a USB key and got a message about an unknown device. The key works perfectly in any other USB ports on the pc. I went into the device manager and a "unknown device" is listed (I've attached a screenshot). It says there are no drivers installed so when I try to update the drivers it tells me it has the up to date drivers.... . I think the drivers don't load or something. Packard Bell recommends I do a system restore, but is this really necessary?
    Any ideas?

    Is it a Vista machine?

Thanks for that, sounds familiar, but I am not attaching an external card reader, it's the integrated one that comes with the machine. But I might post there as well, they might have some more answers in store!

I understand about the inbuilt reader. I was thinking it might be the driver issue they mentioned.

Well, it certainly pointed me in a good direction. I tried what they recommend, but to no avail, I also think it's a driver issue, it seems that it won't load or something, so hopefully someone has a cure...
