Protecting Stairs from heat

The manifold for my underfloor heating is situated under the stairs.

In hindsight this is probably not the best place for it as the cooper pipes on the manifold generate quite a lot of heat and I'm worried about the effect that it will have on the Ash timber of the stairs

What are the best ways to go about protecting the Ash so it it does not dry out excessively or shrink/warp..?

    Thanks,

    Dec

I'd wrap the pipes in pipe-insulation and then box it off with wood and stuff the insides with whatever insulation I had to hand - rockwool or foam.
You could also use some radiator reflective foil on the inside if required.
