    Hey guys,

Suddenly interested in buying a Seinfeld boxset and was wondering whats the best series to buy?

Saw a clip on Jonathan Ross and want to get some Seindeld on DVD.

    Thanks.

ummm... they're all about the same really, I'd go for one of the middle seasons my self... the characters have been somewhat fleshed out, they have a history together that can be joked about, but there's still plenty more to come in terms of comedy and development.

i would steer clear of the first season until you're a die hard fan

    Just buy the whole thing.

Like most classic shows you watch one or two eps and you think "what's the fuss?" but when you watch a bunch you'll be ravenous for more and more, so might as well have a big supply!

BTW did anyone see the latest Seinfeld ad on Channel 6? It makes absolutely no sense. It has a bunch of Seinfeld clips played to Calvin Harris 'Acceptable in the 80s' even tho Seinfeld was exclusively a 90's show (pilot aside).

Don't get me started on that song either! People BORN in the eighties wouldn't be concerned with eighties trends.

If pushed would go for season 4 or 5.
Season 4 includes the award winning episode 'The Contest' where they had a contest to see who could be 'master of their domain' for the longest.

I think there's also a box set with series 4, 5 and 6. All the good episodes were in those series.

Thanks guys, seasons 4/5 seem to be the best choice then. How many are there in total?

you might aswell start at the start. You can't not love this show. Season 1-3 box should be available cheap too.

There are great episodes in every season. The first season was probably the weakest in fact.

Hmmm. I would definately fall into the fan category. You can't go too far wrong with 1-7. After that Larry David left, barring the finale. I could end up arguing with myself over the one season I would go for if I had a gun to my head. Hmmm perhaps season 3. "The library", makes 3 worth it alone. Enjoy whichever you go for.

    THANK you!

Honestly, OP, every season is great IMO, but as others have said, I'd go for 4 and/or 5 and/or 6

I'd agree with everyone else, the middle seasons, 4,5,6 are probably the best but by that time the injokes and running jokes are starting to be ladled on pretty heavy at times, so if i was you i'd probably get the first three aswell so you knwo what there about.

Have you no respect for tradition? Festivus Dinner comes before the Airing of Grievances!

Of course. Festivus wouldn't be Festivus without the aluminum pole.

As George's dad said "Festivus for the rest of us" or was that Kramer as he was always in agreement with George's dad :D

I'd go for season 1 and follow them chronologically.

Seasons 4 contains both the Bubble Boy and the Contest, Season 5 has the Marine Biologist, and 6 has the Jimmy. Think those episodes would be in most fans top 5 or 10 favourites.

And don't forget the ones about jerry and George being gay...not that there's anything wrong with that :D

Hilarious episode, I insist on quoting it anytime anyone in my company says anything like such and is such is gay. Didn't think that anyone ever got the reference until earlier this year, I got the "People's personal sexual preferences are nobody's business but their own" as an answer! Very good indeed!

that episode won awards from American Gay Rights groups for actually being sensitive; check out the 'notes about nothing' on the DVD for more info...

Season 1 must be hard to get because I have not seen it in any shops. Most shops have sesons 4-6.
