I'm back. This was taken yesterday morning just off the coast of the western Sahara. I have something in the region of 2500 photographs to deal with over the next few days but this one already caught my eye.

Most of what I took was kitesurfing related, with some sunsets and a few arty shots. The camera and the computer stood up to the harsh atmosphere which featured wind and lots and lots of sand. The computer was run off a generator for a few days - we had no electricity.

I didn't get the night photography to work for me because we were near a main road and also I had issues getting people to stay out of my way while I tried to leave shutters open for seriously long times. It floored the battery as well and battery protection became a major issue because of the no electricity thing and having to charge the batteries off the generator...one of them I think may be in trouble.

In so far as you can call sand as far as the eye can see (except for the lagoon and the ocean on one occasion...the area was beautiful.

I'll be back with a few more sometime tomorrow if I wake. that bit is doubtful because I've been travelling for 24 hours to get home and am just a bit woozy.

I have done full days work with up to 8-900 shots on the 40d before I sold it on one battery so I dont think you will worry too much about this when you upgrade. 40d's battery is twice the size of the 350d's.. Nice shot by the way.

Killer on the battery is the 50-500mm zoom lens though...
