Based on the classic 1960's Japanese animated series chronicling the aspirations of a young race car driver as he attempts to obtain glory, with the help of his family and the Mach 5, the advanced car created by his father.

been following this one closely (i think i'm the only one who holds the torch for all 3 matrix films, and i love bound). the trailer definitely sticks to the "weird" vibe all of the previous chatter and promotion had been leading up to. looks great, though the racing sequences look a bit out of place for me.

everything being in focus (backgrounds and foregrounds) gives it a cool look though... like live action anime. which i assume is the idea

Looks really good. I too love all three Matrix films and Bound, and hope that Speed Racer will join them.

I agree...but it's worth noting Speed totally runs a guy off the road in the intro to Speed Racer. He's as cold as ice that boy

Its difficult to make out whether this will be any good from the trailer. The style looks great, but as a film its either going to be really good or really crap!

Yeah.. i've mentioned his casting in the original post.

From the beginning of the trailer all i could think about was the jumping cars and Racer X... and both are in it.

I'm there. Can't wait.

If it doesn't remind me through the medium of a voiceover every 5 minutes that racer X is really speeds brother but speed doesn't know about it, then I'll be thoroughly disappointed.

Good actor though, I thought he was excellent in Into the Wild.

I havent seen into the Wild. But I dont really rate him as a actor. Seems a bit dull and just comes across as slightly smug.
