www.hostelworld.com was an invaluable website that we used when we travelled around Eastern Europe. I have never been to Prague but there are user reviews for all the hostels on that site. And the other good thing is that pretty much all hostels in any given city are on the site. Good luck!

Stayed in a nice, clean and basic enough place called Hostel Tyn I think. Very central, not far off the Old Square.

    czech-inn.com
Stayed there about 18 months ago. It was brand new and totally refurbished then and really nice, and from what it hear its still good. Its about 5 minutes from the centre on a tram which run all night or a 15 minute walk.
Plus they do double rooms so you could have ur own room and the staff were really friendly.

Hi, I was in prague over the summer and stayed in this hostel http://www.miss-sophies.com/ for about 4 nights. It was fantastic, staff were very friendly, the room was brilliant, great shower, beds were VERY comfortable! We stumbled accross it and it made the trip as we had stayed in some very dodgy places the previous few weeks! Really close to the city centre as well and there's a good mexican accross the road! Highly recommend it!

Plus-Prague (or is it Prague-Plus?) is a huge multistory hostel with a swimming pool and sauna in the basement. Lovely rooms and kitchen facilities. Walking distance of a couple of the larger nightclubs and the trams, but in a quiet enough locale near the Police Station - absolutely jammers with english and irish, and theres a large bar (where free breakfast is served) right behind it for hostel residents with internet and pool tables. Staff were absolutely brilliant.

(N.B. Parts of Prague at night can be fairly dodgy - its fairly common to be sitting outside the Burgerking in the city centre and be offered whatever drugs you want; this is a recurring theme in Nightclubs; the likes of 'Proxy' or 'Crossfire' are basically pharmacies. The police are also fully armed and take *no* ****)
