I'm not 100% sure but I believe your land needs to be a registered firing range for you to practice shooting on it. :)

A related question. Swords is very close to Ashbourne. Is it the same super? Any chance of a pistol?

Dont know about ashbourne but I think the super in swords has a few
high court actions re pistols pending,I know people who have been issued pistol certs from swords aswell,Its really a case of if you not in you cant win, there dosnt seem to be a system of uniformity every district is different, thats why I hope the powers that be that repesent the ordinary shooter can address this ,I know they are trying, hopefully there efforts
    arent falling on deaf ears

Swords would be a different district than Ashbourne. Swords, Coolock and Malahide are one district I believe and Ashbourne would be in the same district as Dunboyne, Clonee and Dunshauglin. Different divisions as well. Swords would be Dublin and Ashbourne is Louth/Meath.

A guard in dunshaughlin was refused a pistol liscence by his super so he took it to court and judge brophy called the pistol a killing machine either a glock or a sig not sure which.
    So what chance have we.
By the way im in navan aswell and am lookin for a pistol aswell so any info you can give me would be much appreciated.

I'm in the Kells jurisdiction and the current super in there seems to be a very reasonable man when it comes to hunting rifles and shotguns. I've no interest in pistols so I couldn't tell you.

I know the sup in Ashbourne very well and he isnt too bad with aplications, once you show you are big inyo the sport and have common sence, you should be fine.
I also know the sup in Navan as thats where i live now and he can be a bit sticky, gave me a bit of hasstle changing from 22lr to 223.
When i moved from Ratoath i had to use Navan station even tough i was using Ashbourne for years and had built up a good relationship with the sup.
