Is it even available here? I thought it was only on sale in the UK.

No idea, I've been getting grilled on how I need to find some for them. I think its a lost cause though.

Just had a look at the Guinness website and it definitely appears to be UK only.

Abuot 20 years ago, I brought a six-pack of Guinness Light to the States. It was like a religious ceremony when we had them. You'd think it was really expensive wine! Anyone remember the bottles and the little plastic syringe? State of the art at the time!

No, I think you're mixing up the disastrous Guiness Light Product (1980-ish) with the 'widget' thing they tried to push in the mid 80's to make the canned Guinness taste more like draught Guinness.

Like it or loathe it, Guinness is on the way out.

Actually Brother esel is correct, before the days of widgets in cans Guinness draught came in bottles with a plastic syringe to create a head. You poured 3/4 of a glass of Guinness and let it settle, then inserting the syringe you sucked up some Guinness and re-injected it back into the glass as quickly as you could. This produced a head and you then finished by pouring the remainder of the beer into the glass.

Couldn't tell you if they had this setup for Guinness Light, but that was an idea that's best forgotten anyway.

pop up to newry and pic up a few cans there, then you can just pack them well and ship them over

Pretty sure the bottle syringe combo came out after Guinness light flopped - presumably so they could try to get some return on their investment. It was the first carry-out draught.
