RTE 1 frame freeze

    Hi everyone

This is my first post but I've been viewing the ICDG forum for a couple of years now. Its a fantastic source of information! Because of it I have moved to FTA satellite (lidl system) without any problems.

I recently bought an Aldi 32" lcd tv which includes a DVBT tuner. I live in Celbridge, Co Kildare so I was surprised that I could receive the test signals from Three Rock. Signal strength at about 80% from a cheapo aerial in the attic. All was going well for a couple of months but in the last three weeks or so RTE 1 has started to freeze - sound continues but the picture freezes after a minute or so. The funny thing is that RTE 1 is the only channel to freeze - this suggests that the tuner is fine - or does it???. I've tried retuning and checking the aerial connections but there was no change. I also connected it via my old sky box which boosted the signal strength to 83% but RTE still froze.

I wonder would a different aerial help or would adding signal booster do anything? Anyone any ideas?

It's only a closed (not public) Trial. It's not a public service and unlikely to be always compatible with your built in tuner.

At present Satellite is the only source in Ireland of high quality Digital, Animorphic or HD signals.

    Hi Watty

I appreciate its a closed trial and I'm surprised to be able to receive it at all. The Silvercrest sat receiver works well but my analogue reception of the four Irish channels is only fair. Thats why I was very happy to receive DVBT channels. I suppose its disappointing that I can't now watch RTE 1 on DVBT. I wonder has anyone else had this problem.

I know I'll have to wait for some form of more permanent rollout of DTT in whatever standard before there is some certainty. But in the meantime I'd like to see if I can I sort it.

    John
