Hey lads, I'm what you'd call a "big guy", not super fat but I've a good bit of extra weight and I've just got a big frame if you understand.

Out in Korea at the mo and started TKD, liking it a lot but after two weeks of it I'm beginning to think about getting into boxing as well as the TKD. I like the TKD for the stretching etc and out here its really really strict and serious, don't know what TKD is like at home but I did try Karate and it was basically an excuse to put on PJ's and laugh and fall round a gym for 40-45 mins.

The TKD here is really realy seriously taught, even to the kids. So I'm getting a really good workout 5 nights a week after work.

Point is I think I'd like to learn some boxing as well and honestly the thought came to my mind that they would compliment eachother. TKD focuses a lot on kicking, and honestly whatever style I'm doing (don't know name cause my instructor doesn't really speak much english) does a lot of punching/hand stuff as well. But I'd imagine its still not as much as boxing.

Don't know if I'll find a boxing gym round here but sher I'm gonna go look. Anyone have an opinion ?

    TKD + boxing = good/bad ?

i think boxing compliments all martial arts and gives you some good extra sparring esp when compaired to tkd.

    Go for it.

I mixed by Taekwon-Do with boxing a long time back. After about 3months of boxing I started to get decisions within the round, usually straight right hands. Now I teach boxing as part of my Taekwon-Do and shows through in a lot of our fighters.

    Enjoy!

Boxing is great for any martial art and for example, most top kickboxers these days train boxing seperate these days as the kickboxers with the better hands will usually win-same could be said for any martial art too. Enjoy both.
