HdMI cable with a hdmi to DVI convertor. Not 100% sure on speakers, if they've a optical connection you can hook them to the PS3.

I just did the same thing hdmi to dvi did the job for the picture, make sure you change the video settings to the highest resolution possible makes a huge difference! As for sound I wanted to use my headphones but you need to pass through an amp so I have an old micro hi-fi stereo that takes the audio from the component out. Again make sure you change the audio settings to output through the components. You're gonna be a happy man come CHristmas!

The monitor will need to be HDCP compliant IIRC.

After much research mostly through http://www.gamerzines.com/ and http://www.gamerankings.com/ so I also got COD (the Modern Warfare version) and also Uncharted, looking forward to the motion sensitive controls on that...

That 22" monitor should look sweet, just make sure to configure the PS3 for full 1080p resolution to make the most of the monitor. Mind you it looks even better on a 106" screen in 1080i with full Dolby Digital 5.1 with 300 watt sub, the sound of those bullets whizzing past you and hitting the walls behind you really is something else !!

Resistance and COD4 eh ?? I like the cut of your jib mate !! 2 savage games, you won't be disappointed believe me !! Roll on Grand Tourismo 5 and MOH Airborne !!! Oh and Blazing Angels is good too !

thanks for all the info guys i found this page explaining how to set it up http://www.overclock.net/playstation/191028-how-play-your-ps3-through-your.html he says to use a monster cable for connecting the speakers does any one know of any shops selling them and the other connections required i wont need one of the switch boxes as my monitor has 2 dvi inputs thanks

I dont think 22" monitors support 1080P, I know mine doesnt anyways (its max is 1680 X 1050 which is the norm for 22") , you need to stretch to 24" to get 1080p

As for the cable, i got this works great and for ~€7 - € 8 you cant really go wrong! be prepared to wait a few weeks(2-3) for delivary though. Goes straight from Ps3 to monitor

EDIT: as for sound , if your just connecting to a regular enough Hi-fi just use your stock cable, those monster cables are expensive... i mean you could buy another game with the money instead kind of expensive!
