Removing Crib from Hospitals, etc.

Ok, so it's been going on for about 2/3 years that Cribs have been removed from hospitals because 'some may find them offensive'.

Now we find out that nativity plays are not been done in Creches for the same reason. I have yet to talk to one non-christian who is offended by a crib and it saddens me deeply that an integral part of christmas is not been allowed, it's what Christmas is about (the clue is in the name) and I have no qualms about other religions having their traditions and I do not object to them celebrating their traditions.

I do accept the fact that a lot of wrongs have been done in the name of christianity (holy wars, etc) but that door swings both ways, a lot of wrongs have been done by other religions and even aethiests too.

But my main point is that i remember when i was young looking in wonder at the crib in the town or hospital, shopping centre, wherever as part of my earliest christmas memories, and it makes me sad to think my kids won't have the same memories.

well there should be a crib or navity scene in your local church and churches and school if they are not in an educate together school so let them look at them there.

When did that start? Playschools never did anything of the sort in my experience.

Displaying cribs is an integral part???

I'm sure they'll look back at Christmas with their own memories of good times with the family and such. I wouldn't worry too much about the instances you talked about ruining Christmas for them!

I went to a public hospital for my consultant appointment today and some volunteers were putting together the crib in an open space. As a Christian I would not agree that a crib is an integral part of the "Christmas tradition", if you really want to see one I suggest your place of worship and not the local hospital.

Do creches even do nativity plays?
What age are kids in a creche? Wouldn't they be a bit to young for that?

There was a thread in AH recently in which a poster's child's creche nativity play was called off.

Was it due to a complaint or because most of them couldn't walk or talk?

These types of stories come up all of the time. I know a guy who was at the bus stop and an immigrant was getting on. They threw away their pram saying they can get another one for free off the social etc
    Sounds like rubbish to me.
    Just scare stories.
Someone start naming places and identifying who is making the complaints and it would be more believable.
