Hey there, I need a small bit of information.
We've seen many changes in the 20th century in terms of audio formats, but what were they? Vinyl, Cassette, C.D., mp3 etc.

Can anyone list these for me? And was there actually anything before the vinyl?

    Thanks for any help :).

vinyl was a replacement for shellac discs which were made out of some cockroach or something (not making this up, saw a documentary on it).

Vinyl's pretty amazing, it has outlived decades of magnetic tape and is set to outlive CDs now too...

You can't beat a bit of snap crackle and pop or you would'nt be able to get vinyl VST plug-ins!

i listened to a little bit of vinyl yesterday through my studio monitors. Couldn't get over the warmth and clarity on a good set of speakers.

It is funny the way vinyl is going to outlast cd's.

CDs are a bit of a f*ckup, given that they were/are the first widespread digital format for music. The bit depth and sample rate (16/44.1k) are now considered to be not enough for real high-clarity audio, plus the discs themselves are far too prone to scratching. If there is ever a replacement for CDs that fixes these problems, then vinyl's longevity might be challenged.
