My Way De Solzen For Champion Chase.

Its my opinion that MYDS wont be getting 3 miles, nor 3miles 2 for the Gold cup. The run in the Betfair was bad, very bad. He just about got the 3m when winning the world hurdle and wandered when just about holding off Golden Cross. Alan King also said pre-race that he was fit, and expecting a big race. He changed his tune post race, but I think he was making excuses

His Arkle run last year was damm impressive in my opinion, a very fast time, won comprehensively.
He should be in the Queen Mother, IMO.

Ive checked odds, he's a ludicrous 10/1 tops (as in way too small) seeing as there has been no intention declared on behalf of his connections to pursue this route.

    What say the forum?

King said he underestimated how fit the horse was and i believe him as that obviously was not his true running at Haydock.
I dont think he has the pace for a Champion Chase personally, his two biggest challengers in the Arkle Twist Magic and Don't Push It came down just as things were heating up. But strictly on a form perspective his 5 length defeat of Fair Along was equal to Twist Magic's Aintree performance beating the same horse by the same distance so if people think the Nicholls horse has a big chance then surely MWDS also does. For the record i think neither do and Voy Por Ustedes definitely has a fair bit in hand and looks on course for back to back Champion Chases.

Also King is not going to run his two stable stars against each other at the Festival, this season the Daily Telegraph has been upgraded to a Grade 1 and 2m5f should suit MWDS perfectly.

MWDS is much better than VPU over any trip

How he runs in the King George will determine what route he takes.I doubt if he can stay the 3M2F at Gold Cup speed but a lot of people though the same about Kicking King(Of course he didn't have to face Kauto Star or Denman)

Voy Por Ustedes is rated 10lbs clear of MWDS on official ratings and has run to a mark of 170 on rpr on two occasions, something MWDS has not come to within 5lbs of to date.

Personally i think the younger horse would smash him over the minimum trip if they ever met.

After Today, he should be afraid of VPU?
    I dont think so.

On strict interpretation of the form, his 5 lenght defeat pf Fair Along puts him alongside Twist Magics 5 length defeat of Fair Along.

    Yes of course he should.

Twist Magic improved by about 14lbs today over anything he did last season.
VPU is still a top class 2 miler who would beat MWDS imo.

MWDS is a class animal over any trip. VPU is a dog. show me one good race hes won!! not one decent 2 miler came outta his Arkle and his CC was a joke.

Agree Voy Por Ustedes has won a sub-standard Arkle and Champion. When he was really asked the question against Kauto Star in the Tingle Creek last year he was beaten out of sight and again today.A true Champion Chaser should never be beaten so easily by a horse whose best form is all at 3 miles+ even allowing for the fact that Kauto is a class horse. The question is would Kauto have been able to live with Moscow Flyer or any of the other genuine Champions over two miles. The ratings say no and I would say no.Twist Magic though could develop into a top class horse as he will be even better on faster ground.

    OP

MWDS stayed the 3 miles well when he won the world (stayers) hurdle

Off topic but no way he should have kept that race, Murtagh was robbed. How they didn't even call a stewards enquiry is a mystery to me.

i am saying a king won't have his two stable stars running in the same race, surely the logic is if MWDS doesn't perform with a lot of credit next week there must be a chance that he will go for the ryanair, if there is a doubt about 3m in gold cup then 2m 5 will be a perfect fit...

The Listner is going to be lined up for a shot at the Ryanair aswell Id imagine afterhis smooth John Durkan last week.
That could be a hell of a race yet.

Couldn't have the Listener at Cheltenham, if it's not soft he hasn't a hope.

MWDS is a tough one to figure out, after his world hurdle win he looked an out an out stayed, I also remember him winning on bottomless ground at Chepstow, had Ingles Drever among others in behind. The Ryanair does look the best option for him at the moment, whether the trainer will want to take the perceived easy route is another thing.

Strictly talking about MYDS I believe he will run alot better in the King George, my biggest worry is that some of Kings horses are badly out of form. Blazing Bailey has thrown in two very bad performances and I will be watching him closely this weekend. MYDS definitely wont run in the Champion Chase come March it will be either the Ryanair or the Gold Cup and I believe it will be the Gold Cup. It should also be remembered MYDS got well beaten by Fair Along last season and resvered the form quite easily when March came. He does need his first run and maybe 3miles for his forst run was the wrong option. I believe if the Gold Cup is ran at the slow steady pace it was last year then it will be a shoot out between MYDS & Kauto Star.

As for Voy Por I personally think he is 10 times better going left handed and definitely acts on Cheltenham alot better than anywhere else. He gave Kalca Mome 20 odd pound the last day at Cheltenham and in ground he hates and still only went down a head. I think he will walk all over Twist Magic in March. It is a fact if you have festival form (which he has) then you must be respected and I think he will win the Champion Chase easy enough.

surely he cant still be aimed at the Gold Cup after today?
Of course, maybe there was a good reason to have him pulled up, but these last 2 runs cant fill anyone with confidence.
It has to be he Ryanair after this.

MYDS was very disappointing, I would hope there was something amiss because that was too bad to be true. I think they will go the ryanair now unless they try the 3miles at Cheltenham in January.

I dont think any conclusions can be made about him yet, but you couldnt back him at the moment.
