Looking at an item on Argos website as a Christmas present. Have it reserved for pick-up tomorrow.

Then noticed there's a footnote that it's excluded from the 30-day money back guarantee.

Does that mean they won't take it back if the person I give it to doesn't like it? In which case I'd probaly try elsewhere.

Yes correct, they will repair/refund/replace if the item is faulty.

They do not have to refund if someone does not like their purchase. No retailer does. By offering to do so, they are providing extra service to the customer and they can withdraw it if they see fit.

There are no refunds for anything that is exempt in Argos. Its usually for electronic goods - Argos got in trouble a few years ago for selling a phone with a camera, which had been returned and sold again, but with nude pics on it. They cannot take a risk with items like camera's/memory cards/games.

I think the reason they don't on certain items is some people would take the mick eg "buying" a video camera using it for a wedding or something and then bringing it back, would be free rental and open to abuse.
