My girlfriend and i really wanted to have sex last night but she was just after starting her period! I've never had sex with a girl during her period and likewise with her! I know a condom is a big thing!!! but was wondering what other people think about this!

I've done it- don't see anything wrong with it.

It's horses for courses really, some people do, some don't.

Obviously practicing safe sex should be a given, regardless of whether or not she has her period.

Everyone has different views on it. Im not overly confident with it myself so if I am being pestered I normally just go for the blowjob and than a nice back rub for myself. Orgasams are really good for period craps though.

Total personal preference. It's not dangerous or anything like that. Many women find that it helps with the pain.

Always easier to go woman on top. Less mess.

Different strokes for different folks. Dont hold with it myself. its only a few days a month that you have to go without surely you could hold out?????????

Top tip: A gentleman always ensures that he's stocked up with a few large, dark-coloured towels (my personal preference is burgundy), as it's less hassle to wash towels than to wash bed linen.

IME I've found that period sex is not a big issue if you as a man are comfortable with it. If you're totally comfortable with it, the woman tends to be receptive to it. Some women are more horny during their period, for some it helps with cramps, and I had one ex who swore that it made her period shorter!

P.S. Having a large enough shower cubicle helps too.

Er, yea, less mess on the sheets, more mess on the man! but lets face it, it's only an issue if you're anal about that sort of thing...

What about just doing it in the shower? tThat way you dont have to bother with towels or washing them and you already in-situ when its over: perfect solution

Only had this conversation with my friends recently - half of them had no problem whatsoever and the other half were completely disgusted at the thought of it. I don't see anything wrong with it, I actually think sex during my period is better. I might not be not too keen for the first day or two if I'm a bit heavy or if I have cramps because I don't find it helps (plus I'm usually a bit of a grump

). I can understand why guys mightn't be too into it but I couldn't see why my girl friends woudn't even consider it.

I guess a lot of people just think it's too gross or summit, and girls would be very self conscious and stuff, I'd think so anyway. In school me and my mates had a discussion about it and it totally grossed me out whereas my friends had no problem with it, having said that I was at a gig with one of the girls and her bf not long after, she had been complaining of feeling sick all day, they had disappeared anyway, and when they came back, his hand was pretty covered in blood, not a good look...

Can't say I ever found the sex any better at the time, but increased libido is a definate, so the fella might have more fun!

Me and my boyf did everything just as usual when I was on my period. Yes, the bedsheets got stained but that was the only prob. He even used to give me oral at that time and we are both still alive.

haha,yeah i'd have to agree about the oral,that's a lil bit icky!!:)

i've done it on the lighter days of my period(the last 2) and it was no great trauma.and those couple of days mean a lot if you're like me and don't get to see a lot of your boyfriend!!!

Women have different sized vaginas.
Some are longer then others and some are tighter then others
there for some women could not be able to use a contraceptive sponge or a cap or diaphragm which are desgined to go up there never mind a lump of a sponge ment for external use only.

Just because you have chosen to listen to a pron star about what to stuff up your vagina and possibly cause infection and thrush this does not mean it is considered good advice here in the personal issues forum.

period blood has the inner layer of your uterus in it too, pretty, I've done anal, not much problem with it but period sex, yeah bit of a prob...

The sponge things I seen were designed to use to go swimming, take baths, have sex etc while on, they were like thick disks of sponge...don't know if they ever took off...wasn't too pushed on the idea tbh...

Indeed, I know it's a bit off topic, but be wary of advice from porn stars and what you see in porn films. Ever see someone do anal, then switch to vaginal - can be very dangerous.
If you're going to use this sponge method, the bare minimum you can do is boil it in water for five or ten minutes.
