Question about DS Lite bought on eBay

I bought a DS Lite on ebay. The seller was from Hong Kong. Good deal, good seller, arrived today. Works fine and so far, so good. However, I have a problem. I plugged the DS Lite into the power socket to charge it, using the 3pin (European looking) ac adapter supplied with the console. After a few minutes, the plug exploded, rendering it (obviously) useless. The DS, thankfully, is still working perfectly. Needless to say, I was a might panicked for a moment when it happened! If I buy a DS ac adapter here, will it work with the DS without any explosion of any kind?!

EDIT: I just read a thread below about a US DS being used here with an ac adapter bought in Game. I presume the same will apply here? Any help greatly appreciated

Yeah you'll need to buy a European adaptor, they use different voltages in Asia and the U.S.

yeah same will apply. You got lucky my friend! always check the transformers of something you import, it will be written on it what it can take in, it will normally be either 110v , 230v or 110-230v . Our power supply is the 230 one so if it doesnt say it on it dont use it! Even on jap-china convertors it will say the numerical values in english

    here is a link
to a guide on how to make a usb charger out of the broken one you have. Thank orange69 for this
