Apologies for raising the tone of the forum slightly from threads about bum-wipings and so on, but I need some help and my mind is drawing a blank.

Can anyone think of a saying that conveys the opposite meaning of 'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy'?

    prey tell why???

Rather brilliantly, I work in a school in Japan, and the workaholics they are, they want to convey such sentiment onto their students before Christmas break.

I doubt us slack, work-shy Irish have ever felt the need to extoll the virtues of work in a proverb, though. Maybe the Germans...

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber. And want, like an armed warrior!

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy,
All play and no work makes Jack a mere toy.

A rolling stone gathers no moss?

Might not be too apt, but straight from the seanfhocail stash anyway:

    Molann an obair an fear.
    The work praises the man.

Imíonn an tuirse ach fanann an tairbhe.
The tiredness leaves but the profit remains.

does not reap in the fall.
