Do torrents affect poker clients?

    Im having a serious problem with disconnects on Ipoker for the last few days. I am using the GJP client and it will disconnect around every 20 mins, I use Noble poker as well and while I have been having problems with it, its nowhere near as bad as GJP.
    Not only that though but Full Tilt Poker won't connect anymore. I am using NTL 6meg broadband so my connection to the internet should be very good and using windows vista.
    The reason for my title is that I have installed Utorrent on my PC around the same time as I started noticing these problems. I have closed down Utorrent but I am still having problems and Full Tilt will still not connect at all.
    Any ideas anyone?

    Edit: I am using Mermaid, Party and Stars with no problems at all.

    Yea torrents seem to be murder for ipoker alright. Not sure why but definately dont use them while playing on there.

    uTorrent has to be exited else your poker clients will suffer. iPoker more that most.

    I tend to leave uTorrent running over night and while I am at work.

    i'm on eircom bb atm and never have any connection issues with ipoker, even when running loads of torrents.

    If I use Utorrent my iPoker connection will suffer for days afterwards. Im sure i have exited Utorrent correctly (right-click and exit on taskbar) and I dont have the problem with other Poker clients.
    I have to use my computer in work for torrents.

    Digiman, I'm on 6meg ntl in cork, same problem as you, I did a bit of searching around and it seems ntl messed up installing some router on their network a couple of days ago and shutdown access to some sites, I'm 90% sure thats the problem.
    FTP was down all yesterday but back now, noble is screwed since last night I cant even login, all other ipoker sites connect fine. I'll be changing pretty quick if it isn't sorted soon.

    are the links I found. The only way I can get into noble now is using a proxy but it's very slow.

    unfortunately utorrent although the best of them plays havoc with your poker clients.... I caouldn't stay connected while using it... I also noticed it used 100% of my CPU in spikes .... I don't use them anymore but if I do I use bittorrent

    Seems its mainly a Utorrent problem, I restarted my PC there now and have been playing for the last hour with no problems at all. The only reason I was leaving it on all the time as the file is 35GB and is taking ages to download, the price I have to pay to see 24 season 6 in HD!!!

    ah... some of the above explain why GJP, Betfred and PPP were not working for me earlier... damn ntl's little cotten sox...

    it's specifically a utorrent problem.... convert to rapid share guys... you'll never go back....of course for downloading legal uncopyrighted stuff only

    whenever i use torrent spy, cant play ppp after, although i can log on, register into a sng, play for two secs, then get disconnected(f***ers)
    have to restart to get it working properly
