in Jessops. I went for the silver one as it came with a free camera bag - I'm a mom to 6 kids so I'm a sucker for anything that comes free. They had an offer of £10 off all DSLRs & digital cameras and £10 off all memory cards over £20 so my 2GB card was £14.99, altogether £434 so approx €610 and then my 70 back from canon. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

Thanks guys, I'll be stalking the postman next week. I'll be using it mostly for family pics, landscape but also for photographing kids doing gymnastics which is indoors under artificial lighting - any recommendations for a decent lens that won't break the bank.

Indoors under low light. The fastest lens (thats the f number, lower is better) you can get would be my main priority. Canons EF 50mm f1.8 (Nifty fifty) is very fast, very cheap (about €100) and very good. But it's not a zoom lense. Depends how close you can get to the gymnasts. It's also a very good portrait lense. Check out fredmiranda.com for end user reviews.

    Hope this helps.

The "Nifty fifty" is a great lens
Or if your budget is bigger id suggest Canon 10mm f2...it will let you get a little bit closer to te gymnasts, still VERY good in low light conditions but not quite as expensive as something longer or with a big zoom range.
Can be picked up for around 250 quid..(400 euro)

another vote for nifty fifity! (50mm 1.8)
Well worth the money and you can get it for a decent price on ebay

The 85mm ƒ1.8 or the 100mm ƒ2. But that depends on how close you can get to the gymnasts. They're both super portrait lenses anyway.

I'm selling my Canon 24-85mm lens at present on ebay if you want a genuine bargain:

I purchased this lens to replace the standard lens on my 350d and used it as my main lens up until recently.
I did a lot of indoor dance shots with this (without flash) and was always very happy with the results and the zoom range.
I'm selling it as I moved to an L lens recently.
It's absolutely as new, and has a UV filter and hood to protect the lens.
