Heard on the radio today that the first ever six people qualified from a degree in UCD called 'Forensic Computing and CyberCrime Prevention' or something like that. Now I've never heard anything about a degree like this? Anyone here one of the six? Or know them? It sounds like a seriously interesting course, although im assuming that all that did it are absolout code ninjas....

I remember looking that up last year while glancing through some of the postgrade courses, linky here. Appears it's a H.Dip course too though. "Investigation is restricted to police officers" I have to say though, it does look hella interesting

Just thought Id drag this thread back up.
Does anyone know why this course is restricted to police officers only?
I mean surely its not as if their going through matters of national security...

I'd imagine that since they're talking about how to catch cyber-crime, they want to avoid people doing it in order to find out how to avoid being caught.

It's purely for Police or Army Officers.

It's a very small course and very specialised and one of the few in Europe, if not the only one.

A few come from Interpol and then a few from various different police forces across Europe.

They also utilise specialised software that only police forces have access to.

Did you not get the memo? I apparently know everything about UCD....

Nah I read about it when they put up on the UCD website and I was talking to a person who was starting the course this year.
