    You've got the wrong forum. This is mobiles and pdas, you should post this in portable media players. I recommend you post for advice in that forum and perhaps send it off to apple in ireland. Some shops keep records of the serial numbers so they don't have to take back stuff from online chancers (and I count myself as one of the latter and work for the former) so they've no obligation to take it back for a repair from you. I certainly wouldn't take your unit back as I done it once before for a unit bought overseas and it was more hassle than it was worth, came back unrepaired and I got the head ate off me as a result.
