    Hi,

I need to get some A2 prints done. I took the pictures using a Canon 30D, which is 8MP. Would I need to upsize these pics to print so large? If so, what is the best way to increase the size of the images without sacraficing (too much) quality?

    Thanks

It depends on the shots. if they are raw images

what i tend to do is scale the raw before processing, you tend not to notice the scaling as much that way

i do my own prints up to A1 so i get to try it and scrap it if it isnt right

I've done a photo poster 30x20 with snapfish from a 6MP camera image (Shot in JPG not RAW) - looking close i could see evidence slight pixelation(sp?) of the image but it was darn impressive all the same from an idybidy 6MP image. A2 according to the oracle (wikipedia ;o) is 16.5 x 23.4 inches so at that rate of going you should have no problem with an 8MP image. Might depend on the purpose though - personal or professional and the expectations if you are trying to sell it somewhere. By the way that photo poster 30x20 from snapfish was €9.99 - darn good price too i thought should anyone be interested - only drawback is that they could only offer on gloss rather than matte/lustre finish. Hope that helps.

Have you got a TIFF version of the shot, I have upscaled a 30d JPEG up to A1 with very little loss of quality from a TIFF

I made a new A1 sized image in PS and dropped the TIFF into it and resized it with the shift key held to keep the same ration..

    to scale the raw file

if your using adobe camera raw

at the bottom of the window there is what looks like a hyperlink, with the details of the image

click on it and a dialog box will appear
