    Its irrelevent.

    If you actually want a decent channel selection free now, get satellite. In all of EU you may only watch encrypted TV using the appropriate viewing card. The Encrypted content on Irish DTT is a closed Trial.

    Yeah, there's every chance he just wants to know for the sake of it.

    Nothing really wrong with wanting to know some of the basic technical details. Just wanting to know what encryption system being used is hardly a hanging offence; that information on its own isn't going to be worth much trying to crack the encryption.
