Hmmmm most plates now are generated using computers on a sticker type effort that you roll onto perspex....havent seen the old type tin plates around for a long time....

You can definately get the same shaped plate in perspex and get the numbers printed in silver onto a black sticker??. Though most shops use computer printing instead of the old "press" that used to put the numbers on plates..

A lot of motor factors will do the "french style" plates also.

Have used http://www.framptons.net/ in the UK twice.
Very reasonable pricing, shipping, and friendly to deal with too!

I think the last set worked out about €45 for the pair shipped.

I got my plates from http://www.mgm-spares.co.uk/vintage-plates/

They’re the ones on the beemer on this page:

I’ve only had them 18 months and the black paint is flaking off them already

There's a company called Utsch in Tralee where I got my pressed steel plates. Digits are Silver on black plate.

I posted several contact details for Irish suppliers of silver-on-black plates in the 'Suppliers' thread above.

Possibly a silly question, but have you actually asked in your local motor factors?

Have just had some of these made up for myself, pressed metal black & silver.

My local motor factors sorted me out with no problem ;)

The motor factors in Douglas Village shopping centre do silver and black plates while you wait.
