iphone unlocking

hi all just joined today...was just wondering if anyone knows...i dropped an iphone into gsm solutions and it could not be unlocked so i am picking it up tomorrow but i was just thinking there does anyone kn ow if i hav e to pay even though they could not unlock it thanks

It depends. If they tried to unlock the phone and found that it could not be unlocked because someone had already tried and messed it up then they did an action that they would normally have been paid for and they probably will ask.
If you gave them a phone that could not be unlocked ie a phone bought in europe and flashed with the 1.1.2 firmware then they should have known and should not charge. I often get asked to repair old computers and cant, because of availability of spares, then I will have spent as much time not fixing it as I would have done fixing it. I may not ask for payment but do feel entitled to it.
