Unable to send mail

I have an eircom.net email account which I've been using for years and lots of people have my address so I'm reluctant to get another email address (before anyone suggests it).

I use MS Outlook as my email client, and have my "incoming mail server (POP3)" as mail1.eircom.net, and my "outgoing mail server (SMTP)" as mail1.eircom.net.

About 75% of the time when sending an email or replying to an email, it bounces back immediately and I get the message "553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)".

This is really frustration and extremely annoying, and I end up having to use eircom webmail which sorta defeats the purpose of having MS Outlook.

I have Googled a solution but nothing seems to work. Does anyoe have any suggestions as to how I can stop this happening and keep using my existing eircom.net email within Outlook?

    Thanks in advance,
    G23

My BB provider is BT ... I have never had Eircom as a BB provider.

i think you need to change your outgoing mail server to a bt mail relay server. i am sure you can use google to get the server dns name.
this is what i had to do to configure outlook before, ie, use an eircom server for incoming mail and a ntl mail relay server for outgoing mail. hope this helps

    ^^^^^^

    He's exactly right.

Clear your outbox, change your outgoing mail server to "mail.iol.ie" and restart Outlook.

PS: I bet you those 25% of mails that actually sent were to fellow eircom.net recipients?
