Hey everyone - I just started on my course of Roaccutane about 4 days ago. I'm already starting to notice it drying out my skin, especially on my nose.

I was warned of all this by the doctor so I got:
    Vaseline lip balm
    Nivea moisturiser
regular vaseline (i was told to use it on the inside of my nose because that would dry up and could possibly bleed a little)

So really I was just looking for advice from other people who used Roaccutane - if you could recommend any skin products that helped control the dryness, or if you wanted to recount your own experiences or tip me off to anything that would be great.

I have read all the reading material the doctor gave me, but would like to hear how other people got on too.

    Thanks!

Hi self titled.......I did a course of roaccutane and I can honestly say it was the best thing for my skin so you made a good choice on that front.....

The vaseline comes in very handy all do I needed to nearly apply it every hour because its unbelievable how quick your lips dry out.....also around my ears got very dry...again the vaseline was great.Im sure that your doctor talked you through this but you also need to use a moisturising soap like dove or something.

I also needed to get blood tests every month I think or every 2 im not to sure because on a rare cases the drugs can affect your liver.....and also its vitaly important you try to resist any alcohol intake.

Might sound like a lot but looking back it was one of the best things Ive ever done and would highly recommend roaccutane for people with bad/severe cases of acne.Hope this helps in some way.

Nivea lip balm is much better than vaseline. green or blue one.

    Labello for the lips.

Any brand of moisturiser for your face.

I don't know if this will be of any help to you, but

I wasn't on that stuff for my skin, my I did get bad excema on my face.

I found products by la roche posay very good, or Roc do a mousteriser for "extremely dry or atopic skin" which was great!

Also for your lips, i found using lip products like vasoline, carmex, or labello can cause your lips to become dependent on them. SO blizteze (or blistex) worked wonders (excema was also on lips!)

Hope any of that helps! x:)

Hey, congrats on starting your treatment! It was the best decision I ever made, you wont regret it!

I used e45 products for my face and body as all my skin did get quite dry (to the point of itchy, even) and these worked a treat! There are loads of different types, different pot for the face, body, hands etc. Well worth the investment though they'll really help you through!

For the lips I found carmex the best, I found vaseline actually dried them out.

Since youve done your research you might have heard it can cause mood swings, it certainly did in my case, I was a very crabby person to live with for 6 months! So if you find thats happening to you make sure your loved ones know that it is a side effect and youre not doing it completely on purpose, theyll be more understanding then.

    Anyway, good luck!
