Was in the Bull & Castle last week, this stuff was on sale for €10 a bottle, was in the Porterhouse the following day and it's on sale @ €7.20 a bottle!!!!

Interesting beer though, a real winter warmer!:D

€10 is still very reasonable. Compare it to commercial beers. Say a bottle of heineken in a city centre pub, say €5. It is 4.3%, now your duty is related to the % of the beer, also the % is directly related to the amount of ingredients used, so it is ~3.25 times as strong, so has 3.25 the duty, and 3.25 the ingredients. Since it is less popular and has to be transported into the country etc I would expect to pay more, you do save a little on the bottle and transport cost due to lower volume size for the same drink.

So it should be €16.25 per bottle really, on % basis.

On a % basis getting it for €7.20 is like a heineken for €2.20 a bottle.

I always point this out to mates who think my erdinger habit is expensive. It is one of the cheapest drinks out there!
