Have Eircom replaced the copper anywhere else in Ireland?

An Eircom guy came to my door a few days ago for permission to top the trees under the phone line because they are going to replace the it.

Yesterday the machine reduced the height of the trees to ten or so feet.

I think they are making a better effort now that they were 12 months ago. A relative got dsl - couldnt connect due to faulty line. The technician logged the line fault with the lines crew - they repaired within a week - resulting in functioning broadband connection. Have heard similar stories.

They have indeed improved a lot since Nolan and McRedmond were in charge .

I just don't see the point of replacing the line when they haven't upgraded the exchange yet (Bohola, Co. Mayo).

They do seem to be making more of an effort these days.

Replacing the line could have been done for other reasons...

If the line gets broken, blown down, stolen etc they'll replace it too.
