    1. Are there any tax or insurance breaks on cars over 20 years old? I know cars over thirty get cheap tax, just wondering if twenty was old enough.

    2. If a car originally registered in Ireland is exported to the UK, then some years later exported from the UK back to Ireland, do you have to pay VRT for a second time on it?

    Thanks in advance.

30 years old for tax, can be as little as 20 for classic insurance but not always across the board. Sometimes you'll need to negotiate with the insurer. You'll also have to have another car as your daily driver and the classic policy will be limited mileage.

I've done this, and the answer is no.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

All questions have been answered correctly afaik. As for classic insurance and age, it depends on the car and on the insurance company. In many cases, the "classic car" is restricted to a low annual mileage and the classic car must not be the only car insured by the owner

Ring the insurance companies to find out more and also ask the experts here on the Classic Car forum
