Just got off the phone to a relation of mine in the midalnds region. She got a bill today from NTL that she has to pay an extra 30 euro per month over what she was paying with Chorus for the same package. She just has the standard package with two boxes? What's the hike for? Think she's moving back to Sky. Less hassle and you have all the channels..

It's most likely not a hike. Chorus has moved over to the NTL billing system, and this means the billing cycles have change. She's being billed for a month and whatever time it was between her last bill from Chorus on their old system, meaning she's now back up to date.

Same has happened to most other people on Chorus/NTL this month

i could be wrong but i swore i saw a UPC (Chorus/NTL) advert in the irish independant last thursday is which they showed revised prices from 1st january 2008 onwards. to be honest i did not pay it much attention at the time...it was 5:30am in the morning...lol

has anyone heard of any prices increases coming our way for the new year? i know they have changed their monthly billing system which account for the recent "big" bill as it covers some extra period but after that price should return to normal.

Saw the same add, not big increases.

Well it's a bit cheeky regardless of whether it's an increase or not they're still forcing customers to pay for what amounts to an administrative difficulty.

They should have either absorbed the cost or spread it out over the year.

It immediately gives me even worse feelings about the company!

The price increase in January has nothing to do with the change in billing system in October, but rather the increased costs in providing the service. I heard Sky's prices are going up too?

Only good news for Chorus/ntl customers in January is that the cost of the DVR is being reduced to €5.00 per month, and AFAIK they're doing away with the €49 DVR installation charge for existing customers. The Sports/Movies and Setanta premium packs all remain cheaper than Sky - or so I've been told!
