Amir Khan defends his Commonwealth lightweight title Saturday on ITV1 at 21:55hrs..

I'm really looking forward to watching Khan fight the tough and hardy Graham Earl...

    Any thoughts or predictions?

    Khan is just so exciting....

Ye seems to be slightly forgotten about alright.....especially with all the hype surrounding the hatton fight and not to mention the two boxing cards in two consecutive week-ends on these shores.

But I agree kahn is a very exciting fighter and someone who you look forward to seeing....but as you said earl is a tough opponent and would be intresting to see how kahn copes.....would love to see him actually being taken the full distance to really see what he is made of.

looking forward to this, pity hatton isn't on terrestial tv like khan is

khan really showed his mettle when he got off the canvas to knock his opponent out for the commonwealth title ,he has a lot of potential and seems pretty grounded . This is a step in the right direction.

Bet on it then the odds are great, boylesports is 5/1 for graham to win and 1/9 for khan!
that has to tell you something.
20 on ghraham and youll win 120

i think Khan will win but it won't be a quick victory. Earl is tough and has been around the block. however, upsets do happen so it is worth a shot on Earl with those odds!

speaking of forgotten bouts Wayne Elcock faces Arthur Abraham on Saturday.

Earl is a big step up isn't he?

In truth Willie Limond is a better fighter than Earl and stylewise Limond was more of a threat to Khan anyway .

Khan will win this easy and put Earl away before the start of the 7th .

Khan's got 3 problems for me:
-His chin......aint no fixing that .

-His defense , can leave himself very open at times and boxers who throw punches at the same time as taking them will catch him on the counter .
    -
His offense when he has someone backed up , for the most part Khan is a lovely offensive fighter but when he backs a guy up he comes in and out in straight lines rather than stepping to the side and moving laterally to fire in more shots .

Limond was the only fighter who didn't wait for Khan to stop punch to fire back(Khan was actually in the process of throwing a double left-hook when Limond caught him before flooring him) .

Earl can sometimes do that but he doesn't do it often enough and will normally wait for an onslaught to end before firing back .

Thaxton on the other hand doesn't mind what he is taking while coming forward , and while some think he punches too wide and crude these are actually perfect punches to catch Khan when he comes in and out as he does . Combine that with Khan's apparent dodgy chin and you have the reason why I believe Thaxton stops Khan .

However Earl is limited and has a lot of controversial(and lucky) wins and isn't really as good as his record suggests . Who knows what he has left after Katsidis knocked the stuffing out of him anyway . Khan's style is perfect to deal with Earl easily and if Earl gets past the 6th let alone wins I really would be shocked .

Khan is almost too offensive and aggressive at times if I can say that.
What I basically mean is that he is a little too
urgent and reckless with his offense and it leaves him very
open. He needs IMO to place his shots a little better and make
each shot count. Instead of throwing 6-7, maybe 3-4, but 3-4
    scoring and telling shots....

His CHIN is still up for debate, but I'm not too confident that it's
grade A....I personally feel it's not up to a real TEST and if I am right, then
Amir's career may never hit the heights that it would, had he a solid chin...

one crucial difference between Limond and Earl is, while Earl does get caught in headlights so to speak and is limited fighter, he can bang. if he manages to catches Khan like Limond did he will expose his weak chin. However , i suspect this aera of your concern will not be a problem. Khan's defense will better after the shock of the knock down by Limond. Nothing is as effective as improving someone defense as a shock to the system like that.

i fully expect Khan to win but upsets do happen.

Earl is 6/1 on betfair (minus commission) I think I'll put a few quid on him.
